About Professional Painted Portraits

Prices are reasonably adjusted to the number of subjects, canvas size, and complexity of composition. Smaller, and less detailed, portraits begin as low as $1,000 to more than $25,000 for elaborate, complex, and larger paintings. Custom framing services are available, if desired.   A $25.00 initial deposit is required to initiate the commission. Terms beyond initial deposit are negotiable, however in  most instances, payment is paid at approval of the finished portrait, but prior to delivery.

The Process

Photographs are used as the basis of the painting in order to maintain accuracy of unique landmarks and characteristics, but will not compete or detract from the painting process. In fact, sittings are used to enhance and supplement the photographic guide whenever possible. Several small preliminary studies of the work will be painted and submitted to the client in person or through email communication and image attachments. This will be done until the client has approved the mood and the composition for the final portrait. All of the client’s recommendation will be integrated into the painting.

About Basic-Painted Portraits

Most portrait paintings are created over many hours, involve face to face interactions, and require significant attention to surroundings, pets, and attire as well as the primary subject(s).  Such involvement is not practical for everyone, especially the online client.  This package takes into consideration the unique experience and needs of many online portrait customers who are interested in a straightforward and an accurate representation. The artistry, skill, and ending result of a unique masterpiece remains the same, but without the level of involvedness of the professionally painted package.

Guidelines to Qualify for a Basic-Priced Portrait

• Photographic prints must be a minimum of 3.5 x 5 inches
• Digital images (photograph) must be at least 960x1280 pixels
• The exposure and focus of the selected subject within the image must be clear enough to recognize unique characteristics
• Subjects that will be extracted from different prints or images to compose a group portrait must be similar in lighting, perspective, and focus, which allows the process to remain straightforward and without difficult changes.
• Awareness that the painted background will frame the subject with uncomplicated elements of color and texture
• Detailed backgrounds, such as architectural or land/seascapes, are reserved for the professional portraits, as listed above.
• Elaborate or meticulous foregrounds, such as intricate props, ornate clothing, wedding dresses, and military uniforms are reserved for the professional portraits.

Included in the Basic-Priced Portrait

• A classic, uncomplicated, and discriminating representation of the subject with the same skill, grace, and style rendered to the professional portraiture.
• Eyes will sparkle, skin tones will range from jewel to porcelain, and the most desired and unique qualities will be emphasized
• Lighting, source and color, will be used to set the mood and energy of the portrait (as always, per the client’s agreement or suggestion)
• Clothing, hairstyles, and other many other features can be changed (yes, even the physical appearance of a more slender or muscular build is possible)
